We are having issues with users selecting obsolete items when creating orders. Ā We are considering using the Blocked CheckBox on the Item page. Ā Are there any concerns to be aware of by using the Blocked check Box on the Item?Ā
Thank You,
Marc

Blocked does not create any problems I am aware of for items. You can still use warehouse functions, you just won’t be able to purchase/sell the items. If these are truly obsolete items, it is a good idea. I also tend to remove valid posting groups and add obvious, leading numbers indicating the item is not a regular inventory item (i.e. 99999) in the event that someone accidentally unchecks “blocked.”

This is one of the areas that I wish NAV would fix. Ā Both customers and vendors have levels of ‘blockage’ designed to prevent certain usage. Ā But not with items. Ā At a minimum, NAV should have a block level which prevents inbound transactions like purchases, but allows outbound transactions. Ā This would allow user to sell off existing inventory but prevent purchasing new inventory.

Agreed, David. I also would like a setting to allow sales quotes for blocked customers.
