?I checked our work centers and was surpised to see that we have the field empty. so I checked the Microsoft documentation below.Ā We are using stockkeeping units to drive the waerhouse locations used in production.
Shows the location where the work center operates by default.
The location code that is defined in this field also applies to any underlying machine centers.
Ā If the work center is used in a production order at the location that is defined in this field, then warehouse activities around consumption and output are defined by the work center setup. The detailed flow of items to and from the work center is defined in the bin code fields in the Location Code field on the work center card.
You can still use this work center in production orders at any other location that is not specified in this field. In that case, the bin codes that are defined on the work center card are not used.
If no location code is defined on the work center but a location code is specified in the Components at Location field in the Manufacturing Setup window, then components lines are created for that location as a global default.
If you have defined a default bin structure for components, then the Location Code field on the work center card plays a role when filling the Bin Code field on production order component lines. For more information, see To-Production Bin Code.
