I have a question for our Mfg. Mgr. who I can’t seem to get involved with NAVUG to ask his own questions š
He creates many Sales Quotes but can’t seem to find a way to check his inventory requirements unless he converts the quote to an order. Is there a report or something he can run that looks at current inventory, released sales orders and the specific quotes? I hate that he converts his quote to an order when it’s not actually an order yet.

Does he want a report or does he want to see the availability as he is entering the quote? If the latter, there is a fact box on the sales quote page which will give him availability for the item. You can also easily add other flowfields to the fact box to give him what we need.
Unfortunately, the availability reports do not include quotes, but you should be able to have them midified to include quotes if needed.

Just some thoughts:
I believe the intended purpose of a sales quote is only to provide a price quote to a customer for a potential order. I don’t think it is intended to affect demand for those items as that should only happen if customer decides to place an order.
Has he looked at using Blanket orders? If he’s using quotes to reserve or place demand on inventory for known future orders, I think Blanket orders may be an option.
