Ok novice question or just clueless, How are the G_L Entries (SQL Table) linked to the G_L Register (Table)?
I have provided GL Entries to Auditor’s before but 1st time that this needs to include G_L Register too in the same table.
And I am not sure the JOIN between the two table at the SQL level. I see the From Entry and the To Entry.,

if you’ve done this before or know, your help is appreciated.Ā  (a light bulb moment).
      Thanks.

      Hey Ronald,

A G/L Register record a grouping of G/L Entries that were posted at the same time basically.Ā

Your assumption about the From Entry No. and To Entry No is correct.Ā  If you are looking at a Specific G/L Entry, to find the specific Register it belongs to, your Entry No. needs to fall between the From & To fields on the register.

I worked through this yesterday and even found help in the Power BI community.
I landed on a much more simplified as I can make thing complicated at times.Ā  (maybe just me).
and so a INNER JOIN using the G_L Entries to the G_L Register AND a WHERE using gl.[Entry No_] BETWEEN r1.[From Entry No_] AND r1.[To Entry No_].

We have less than 70 some companies and so needed all companies so created on-off G_L Entry View and G_L Register View adding a [Parent] column (The company] from the Company Info Table (that is also a combined View).Ā  Then with a Power BI Date Table, Companies and a new Combined G_L Entries with six (6) columns from G_L Register (View) have a new View for a simple Power BI Report for all the companies.Ā  This is to generate auditor files.Ā  All total close to 1 million 500 thousand rows but simple export for annual G_L Entries Export for Auditor files.Ā  Only really large company with over 500k rows and so had to break up in to four quarterly files. But once exported.Ā  Excel Data Query combined the four for a single file.Ā  Now year to year we can generate auditor files for all companies or those specified in 30 minutes or less.Ā  At other times in the past auditors only needed G_L Entries but this time the Register columns.

This community as usual was helpful.Ā  Thanks…. really.
