HelloIs it not at all possible to hide and unhide fields by a user on card type page? Like on the list page where user can choose columns and hide columns.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Imran,
It certainly is possible to show and hide fields on a card page as well… by using customize this page and then click on customize the Fast tab (screen shot below) – tab where you want to show and hide the fields. Then add, remove or set importance of fields as you like.
You can also do at the configuration mode level or educate users on how to set their own card pages as needed.
Hope this helps,

Imran,I would like to expound on Meenakshi’s recommendation.
I suggest that when customizing pages to “eliminate” base NAV fields, I use the Importance setting and set the field to “Additional”. This hides it rather than removing it completely.
There is nothing more frustrating than receiving an error from NAV about a setup on a card or a field on a document and not being able to find it. By using Importance, the user can always get to the field easily if needed (Show more fields…) Even though you as the user may not be using the field, it does not mean that another user or process is not using it, and if not used now, it may be in the future.

If you are running on NAV 2016 or 2017, then you can tie the appearance of fields to user permissions.
Please specify the NAV release when asking questions because that affects the answers.——————————

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn757305(v=nav.90).aspxThe user permissions are accumulative so you will need to make sure they do not have other permissions that let them see it.
You need to switch those users from BASIC permission set to FOUNDATION.
NAV 2016 also introduced user groups letting you assign users to a group and then permissions to the user group.——————————
