Easy Security – Now to UNDELETE a user/login
Posted by Lewis Rosenberg on October 2, 2017 at 2:29 pm-
?Using Easy Security, the process to delete a user is to delete the USER record in your live NAV Company and then from the Easy Security company run Publish Permissions to synchronize Easy Security with the live company.Ā The Easy Security Login Record then gets a check mark in the “Deleted Live Login” field.
Is there a standard practice to reverse this since the “Deleted Live Login” field is read-only?
I suppose I can permanently delete the Easy Security Login record and then add the user back.Ā Is there another way to accomplish this?
(We’re running NAV2013R2 and Easy Security 1.41.21)
(Hmmm…what happened to the NAVUG.com tags?)

Hello Lewis,If you wish to add the user back in you should be able to add them back to NAV security, then Publish Permissions in the Easy Security company.
It is not specifically spelled out in the link below, but it is mentioned that this design (deleting a user in NAV security, but not in Easy Security) is to maintain the setup in case of accidental deletion.
Let me know if this works for you.

?That actually did not work, which is why I posted.Ā Deleting the Easy Security Login record and then adding the user back did work.Ā
My first thought was that if there was a way to uncheck the “Deleted Live Login” checkbox, then the user record could be recreated with all of its original permissions when publishing. That checkbox field is red-only, however.

The reason it did not work is the Login have a reference to the internal ID “User Security ID”, when re-creating a User is a different “User Seciruty ID” created.Ā
If you want to recreate the User follow the steps below.
1: Export the Login from Easy Security.
2: Delete the Login from Easy Security.
3: Create the User in the standard NAV table.
4: Use the function “Get New Logins”
5: Import the Access Control to the Login created with the new “User Security ID”

?Thanks Per…that certainly explains the trouble I initially had when I simply added the user back in NAV and kept getting errors trying to publish all permissions.
See you next week In Nashville!
