      ??Hello Everyone

What tools have been used or that you can recommend work well when moving from a current ERP system to Nav BC?Ā  We are aware of Rapid Start and it’s limitations, and would like to know what other tools/methods others have used and found helpful/productive/successful.

Thank you all in advance for any feedback/suggestions

      Brenda

      Brenda,

What system are you coming from and what volumes of data are we talking? We tend to use Config Packages heavily and for some of the smaller data sets key the data directly in to use it as a training exercise.

      HI Spencer:

They will be coming from various ERP systems currently so we are all over the map in that area.Ā  For the Data, we will range from small to very large volume.

Brenda for larger data sets we see two options used most; xmlports and sql scripts. Regardless of the method of bringing data in, be sure that you are comfortable with those ‘NAV’ specific fields that need to be populated….I mostly referring to posting groups but there are others.

Good luck and welcome to BC/NAV!!

There is a group that has taken many customers from a ‘legacy’ ERP to BC in a rapid manner (typically within 2-4 weeks) using what they call a MVP (Minimum Viable Product) approach.Ā  It is my understanding that they have built some tools to quickly move master data and open items into BC and they implement very specific functionality in what they call ‘Packs’.Ā  Everything is done on a fixed-price basis and they have been extremely successful. Ā I don’t know all of the ‘hows’ but what I do know is that what they are doing seems to be working.Ā

      Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Contact Bobby Priestley at Cooper Parry IT, he’ll be able to explain it.Ā  Bobbp@cooperparryit.com
