I am using NAV 2017. Ā I can find documentation that says that I can make a production order from a sales order, but not exactly how to do this. Ā The instructions that I do have say to start with a new production order, choose “sales header” as the source type and identify which sales order, then push the “refresh production order function” in the header to automatically have the lines fill in from the sales order. Ā When I fill out the screen and push “ok” nothing happens. Ā Has anybody else used this function before and know how to get it to work? Ā Thanks for any suggestions.

One thing to check: the items on the sales order need to have a “replenishment system” value of “Production Order.”

Here is a link to MSDN that outlines the steps you need to follow.

The link provided by Andrew is the method we teach Users who want to manually create the Production Orders. Ā This process does require that you go through each individual Sales Order to create the Production Orders.

Another option is to set a Reorder Policy of “Order” on the Item Card. Ā Then run the Planning Worksheet to create a new Production Order for each Sales Line that contains an Item with “Order” policy. Ā This creates a 1:1 relationship between the Sales Line and the Production Order.

You would also have the option of using Lot for Lot, which would be a Many:1 relationship between the demand (Sales Lines) and the supply (Production Order), within a given period of time.

We are running 2009R2 and generate Production Orders from Sales Orders as a normal course of business. From the Sales Order, highlight the desired line, click Order->Planning.

The Sales Order Planning dialog box will open. Click Functions-> Create Prod. Order.

In the next dialog box you can set the parameters of the Production Order. After clicking OK, a confirming dialog box is displayed.

To check the linkage between the Sales Order line and Production Order, you can follow the same path above and click Order Tracking instead of Create Prod. Order, or, you can click Functions->Order Tracking from the Sales Order which will display the Order Tracking dialog box.

Finally, to view the linkage from the Production Order side, open the Production Order, click Function Order Tracking.
