      Hi NAVUG,

We recently upgraded from NAV 2009 to NAV 2018, and implemented Charge Logic payments during that upgrade. Now we would like to update how partial Credit Card Authorizations are handled, as they are currently being approved, which is not our desired result. For example, if an authorization is submitted for $100, and cannot be fully approved, we would like that to decline at the very least, or ideally reverse/void (to ensure the approved funds are released).Ā

After reviewing all of the different EFT/Chargelogic setups in NAV, as well as the Chargelogic User Guide, it appears this would be handled on the Gateway’s ‘Response Codes’, where we would update the ‘Transaction Status’ for the ‘Partial Approval’ response code (Code 10 in the case of our Gateway) from APPROVED to either VOID, or DECLINED, or similar.Ā

However, the Chargelogic User Guide indicates that these values should not be changed on pre-configured gateways.Ā  And since we can’t really ‘test’ this functionality to see the results of that change, I’m very hesitant to update it without more information.

Does anyone have experience with declining or voiding partial Credit Card Authorizations in Chargelogic? If so, can you provide any details on how you set that up, and what the end result looks like in NAV (additional VOID transactions, prompts the user may receive, etc). Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks!

      ?Casey,
I have worked with Chargelogic for many years and the only time I have experienced a ‘partial’ Authorization is when your customer uses a Debit Card rather than a Credit Card.Ā  It could be that your processor is one I have not worked with before but with the most popular processors (Vital, First Data, Chase), they will only Authorize a Credit Card when the full amount is available. You will receive a decline otherwise.

As a safety step to insure you have a full Authorization, you can use the Payment Terms table to set a percentage value for all Payment Terms Code used on credit card orders.Ā  The system will verify that there is an Approved Authorization associated with the order for that percentage of the order total before it will allow the selected step in the setup.

For example, the Payment Term says 100% for the Release step. This means there would need to be an Approved Authorization for 100% of the order total before you can Release the order. There are other steps that can be setup and you can use different percentages. I would think if you used this setup and had a partial Authorization, it would prevent the user from Releasing the order.

You are correct that you should never change the Gateway setups as these are the gateway’sĀ rules which vary by the variousĀ processors and gateways.

If this information does not help you, I would contact your VAR.Ā  If you believe the program is not working properly, they can check to Chargelogic to see if there are any hotfixes to resolve the issue.

      Hi Crystal,

Thanks so much for the suggestions.Ā  We do have all of our ‘Credit Card’ payment terms set to require 100% authorization upon ‘Release Order’. So thankfully, orders getting released isn’t an issue for us. But we are still having to deal with the partial approval, potentially then having to void/reverse that, if the customer wants to use a different card for the entire charge.Ā

I neglected to mention that we removed our payment gateway from our Credit Card processing when we implemented Chargelogic. So its possible this was something being handled by our gateway previously.Ā  But our processor has indicated this isn’t something we would setup on their end.Ā

They dont occur on a daily basis, but enough that I would like to avoid it if possible.Ā  Even if only occurring on debit cards, since that didn’t seem to be the case for us previously.Ā

      Thanks again for the input!

Is this only happening on your partially shipped (back ordered)Ā  orders?

No, its happening regardless of if there are backorders on the Sales Order or not. We do have a number of modifications that impact how a Sales Order is released, including only authorizing a Credit Card for product considered ‘shippable’ on the Sales Order.Ā  However, that doesn’t appear to be related to the issue, as we have at least a few examples of the full SO amount being submitted, and recorded on the EFT transaction. But only a portion of that being approved:

      Ā

      • Total SO Amount = $15.50
      • EFT Transaction Details:
      • Original Transaction Amount = $15.50
      • Signed Transaction Amt = $2.89
      • Total Amount = $2.89
      • Transaction Amount = $2.89
      • Response Code = 10
      • Result Message = PARTIAL APPROVAL
      • Extended Result Message = Partial Approval

    Ā

    Thanks.
