We are using Lanham E-Ship with ACE warehousing on NAV 2009 R2 to ship items from our finished goods warehouse. Ā All of our items going out are lot tracked. Ā Occasionally we have scenarios that requires us to swap one lot of an item for another, prior to the items being shipped out of our system, but after they have been picked and packaged (both in NAV and physically).

When this occurs today, we have a many step process to update the system:
1.) Open the package and modify the LOT code of the item.
2.) Delete the warehouse shipment lines associated with that item
3.) Delete the Item tracking lines from the sales order
4.) Remove the item from the sales order.
5.) Move the orphaned items from the ship location back into the warehouse.
6.) Create a new sales order for the removed item using the same PO, ensure all EDI pieces are setup properly, etc.
7.) Create new picks and process accordingly.

While we have a method of doing this, we are wondering if there is a simpler way to correct the item tracking lines that doesn’t involve needing to remove lines from the sales order and create a new sales order.

      Thanks

We are in NAV 2015 and Use lot tracking with e-ship and e-receive.Ā  We do our best to catch lot changes in the outbound warehouse before registering the picking tickets.

After that pick is registered we are locked in and have to follow the same procedure you outlined in your dilemma.

      E-SHIP TIP:
The [ //vwal ] command in pack line scanning takes you to the pick lines to make adjustments to lots and qty before registering the pick šŸ™‚

?Ditto!Ā  We are lot number challenged and always want to do things that deserve a slap on the wrist.Ā  Once the pick is registered it is difficult to shift into reverse.

You may be able to cut out a couple of those steps (not certain this will work).Ā  The lot tracking on the Sales Order is governed by the Reservation Entry table once the pick is registered.Ā  The SO can reserve a different lot number but won’t show item tracking entries until the pick is registered, and that reservation entry’s lot number will change to match the lot from the registered pick (well, unless that lot was reserved against a different SO and unavailable; we’ve seen issues in that scenario).Ā  Anyway this means the sales line item tracking is not permanent until you post the sales line.Ā  Try this suggested process to see if it saves any time:

      1. After changing the Package lot info, go to the Registered Pick lines.Ā  Delete both lines associated with that item number.
      2. Move the item from the SHIP bin back to a pickable bin.
      3. Go to the Warehouse Shipment, find the line with that item and change its Quantity to Ship value to zero.
      4. Cancel all sales line reservations for this this item on the sales order.Ā  If you skip this step you might see the “cannot match item tracking” error when you try to post.
      5. On the same Warehouse Shipment, run the function to Create Pick.Ā  It should create a new pick with this item.Ā  If not, then this idea doesn’t work.
      6. Change the lot number on the new pick and register it.
      7. Post and profit.Ā  Or let me know if this did not work.

We’ll give it a try and let you know. Ā Thanks for the idea.

In our testing, we ran into two elements.
1.) We have not been able to delete the registered pick lines. Ā When we pull up the Registered Pick, select the appropriate pick, open the document, the only option is to delete the entire registered pick document (which contains other items). Ā Did you have a specific place that you were suggesting we delete these lines from once they have been registered?

2.) When I go into the Sales Order and look at the reserved items (this was done without removing the registered pick lines). Ā If I try to cancel the line, I receive the error: Reservation status must be equal to ‘Reservation’ in Reservation Entry. … Current value is ‘Surplus’. Ā

So, unless the deletion of the registered pick lines would change that(?), the cancellation of the reservation would appear to also be a stopping point.

      Thanks,

Thanks for the tip on //vwal. While I would love to blame process for this, it is the nature of our product to require our process to be the way it is – at least for some of what causes the scenario. Ā

      Thanks!

Ack, I committed the cardinal sin of basing instructions on customized objects.Ā  Sorry about that.Ā  We long ago had our partner build a process that allows us to delete individual registered pick lines which also reduces the Qty to Ship from the Warehouse Shipment and reverses the tracking specification that gets attached to the sales line (our business process requires us to undo one or more lines quite often from orders with many lines).

It looks like with the standard code your original process is the only solution – sales line must be deleted and recreated.Ā  Maybe there is still one very slight time saving to get: you should be able to add the new sales line to the existing sales order instead of creating a new one.

Thanks. The good and bad of customization, sometimes it is hard to remember what you customized after a while. I know we had run into a reason that it got added to a new sales order in that process, but I’ll double check that. Ā

      Thanks again,
