When we attempt to change a Work Center we get the following message:

“This change may have caused bin codes on some production order component lines to be different from those on the production order routing line. Do you want to automatically align all of these unmatched bin codes?” We are then given two buttons “Yes” or “No”. We are not sure what the risk is with either option.

Does anyone have any idea which would be the best response?

Hi Gregory,

My personal recommendation would be “NO” so you can review the bins and assign component lines properly. Saying “YES” might pull it from some bin where it will generate other inventory issues unless you have dedicated bins. We didn’t in our setup so I always said no but our components lines were not more than 10 per production order so it was easy to manage.

Greg – With bins enabled if you are using the Warehouse bins on the Work Center or Machine center and have components linked to the Route operation the system is asking if you want to update the bin to issue the components from – using the new work center you selected in your example as the new components from bin.

‘No’ would leave the component bins as is – ‘yes’ will update to the new Work center or Machine bin.
