Microsoft is taking away one of the authentication methods to access our data via web services.Ā  If you haven’ moved to BC cloud I would recommend you don’t.

      Hi Steve,

I responded to Jordan’s post on this other post, but I saw the same thing on the user card in BC SaaS.

Show more links to this article, but I haven’t seen an official release from Microsoft about when it or OData V3 are being depreciated.

Here is the information including a link to page that contains it:

Basic Auth / Web Service Access Keys for SaaS

The following feature will be Removed with Business Central 2021 release wave 1.

BASIC AUTH / WEB SERVICE ACCESS KEYS FOR SAAS
      Moved, Removed, or Replaced? Why?
Removed (for SaaS) The capability to access web services in Business Central using Basic Auth will be deprecated for SaaS. OAuth2 will be the only authentication option for SaaS. OAuth flows that are currently supported areĀ ImplicitĀ andĀ Auth Token. Efforts are being made for Business Central 2020 release wave 2, to support OAuth flows, that will support Service to Service auth flows. For on-premises, Basic Auth will remain an option for the time being. This change has no impact on how Business Central connects to external services.
