      Hello!

We have begun invoicing customers in a foreign currency to ease their payment process.  In doing so, we have been updating the exchange rate on a regular basis in order to calculate the invoices accurately.  We are aware that Nav 2016 has the ability to automatically update exchange rates and we will eventually be migrating to that version in the upcoming year from our current 2009 R2.  In the meantime, we were hoping there was a way to automatically update exchange rates now so that it is not a daily requirement.  Does anyone have any experience/knowledge on whether it is possible and if so, how?

      Thank you in advance!

It is not possible to do it out of the box. You would have to do a customization. Most companies that I am aware of don’t update the rates every day. I usually see it done ever week or every month.

      Hi!

If you are thinking about a customization, consider this.

We update rates daily via a web services connection using a customization that pulls rates from Oanda.  If the bank website is down the process fails the service stops and has to be restarted. (Programming?)  We are then required to manual update rates for each day missed.  We now have a jet report the is scheduled and runs right after the currency update to confirm a successful run. This ensures we have no more than one day’s data to update in the event of an outage.

      Best up luck!

PS. You may have to adjust some of your posting groups in various places in the system to utilize the rounding features.

Since you are upgrading, why not go to NAV 2017? The level of effort is about the same and you will get all of the new features.
