Highlights
00:47 — There are three main areas that can be personalized in Business Central:
- Individual Personalization: Tailoring the Business Central interface to an individual’s preferences.
- Role Center Customization: Adjusting the visual experience for all users within a specific role.
- Extension Design: A developer-focused feature to create extensions that modify the interface.
01:31 — Dave demonstrates how to access the personalization settings by starting from a List page, selecting Settings, and then the gear icon. He also advises how to clear all personalizations if needed.
02:25 — Generally speaking, the only fields a user can customize on the List page are adding fields, deleting fields, and rearranging fields. Dave demonstrates how to add a payment term code field to a List page.
04:56 — The same can be applied to the Customer record. Within Customer records, users can also choose to collapse Fast Tabs, or “Show more” Fast Tabs.
08:17 — Once you’ve finished customizations, make sure you click “Done” to save your work. However, it’s possible to enable customizations for everyone in a particular role. All of the steps are the same as above, but individual customizations will still override these. With proper security, you can prevent your individual users from customizing their roles or personalizing their roles themselves.
