Power Apps to Power BI and back, with Fabric – technical how-to
The Microsoft Power Platform is fantastic for rapid application development and data collection. Often, there is a need to integrate data from Power Apps into an Analytics platform to enrich existing data, improving analysis capabilities. In this session we will work through an example scenario of integrating the data from a Power App into Fabric and then using Power BI to analyze the data. We will use Synapse Link to integrate Dataverse with Fabric and see how to manage the connection. Once the data is in a Fabric Lakehouse, we will manipulate the data to be more useful for analysis and combine it with data from another source. A Power BI report will be created to surface the combined data, highlighting the power of the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI platform. Finally, we will provide the transformed data back to Dataverse, allowing our Power App users to see and interact with the enriched / transformed data.
We will focus on a few specific business use cases like creating custom data categorizations. For example, managing custom AR/AP aging buckets and KPI targets. However, the concept supports near limitless options to capture data and incorporate it into reporting.
This will be a technical session showcasing the steps and configuration required to activate the necessary integrations, as well as highlighting some of the best practices and troubleshooting steps for managing the environment. You will walk away with the confidence to set up the same capability in your own environment to further explore the value it can provide to your organization.
