      Dear PBI Users Group:
I was wondering if I could receive some suggestions on how to append a table (“orders”) with new data that is received on weekly basis.
What has me thrown off is that I have added  measures and new columns I don’t want to lose or rebuild each time new data to add to my orders table is received.
I will include a picture of my original data table “Orders” on this attachment -which shows some new columns and measures I added and the bottom of this catchment shows what new data would come in weekly(example) where I do match on the columns.
Any advise or input is appreciated.
      Sincerely,
      Bill Skelley

      Hi William,
I might have misunderstood your question but it looks like the other columns you have added are details about each product. If you have a source for that then you should include that in your model as a separate query, and join it to your Orders data on the Product Key.
Does that help? As the sqlbi.com chaps will tell you, modelling is crucial to using Power BI effectively.
      Thanks

      Pete.

If you are adding data in same file that you used while creating the Data model then It will not affect any model changes that you have done (Measures or Computed Columns).

But question is, if you are using the a new file to append data, then you need to look Folder and Excel option and use it with Functions and Parameters. You need to load data from all files.

?My first question is, what’s your original data source? Power BI can’t merge data in and create a new file to feed back into the same model. You need to feed a process with the old and new data where you merge it then bring this new merged source into Power BI. Your transformations will then just pickup the new data. If Excel is your source, then you can use Power Query to merge them into a new data file as the source. See this solution:
