      Hi Han So,

You can refresh a SSAS dataset though Power BI Gateways and Power BI Services.
I advise you to look those two great tutorials from Power BI community blog.

If your dataset supports scheduled refresh, by using Refresh Now and Schedule Refresh, there are a few requirements and settings important for refresh to be successful. These are Gateway connection, Data Source Credentials, and Schedule Refresh. Let’s take a closer look at each.

In Power BI, there are two ways you can connect to a live SQL Server Analysis Services server. In Get data, you can connect to a SQL Server Analysis Services server, or you can connect to a Power BI Desktop file, or Excel workbook, that already connects to an Analysis Services server.

      Hi,
Well, i’ve several connections (only from SQL, but some differents), if you’re querying the source litteraly with a query you’ve to set up auto refresh with the data set. Below an example:

Also i have a lot of connections SSAS type, and with this one is easier because you don’t have to schedule an automatic refresh, it’s an automated data source. But in your back end you’ve to set up any job to process your information.
For example in SQL Agent. Once you’ve this, you will have your data online.
      I Hope i’ve helped.

cool – it seems it only direct connects to Miicrosoft DB’s of which i have none.  I only have MYSQL, Amazon Redshift and Google BigQuery/ GA.  I see we can manually refresh MYSQL using a schedule – how about Redshift?

      Hi
Amazon Redshift is supporting direct query which means you can use the gateway to connect with your data source and can schedule the refresh.

With , when you connect to your data source, it is always possible to import a copy of the data into the Power BI Desktop. For some data sources, an alternative approach is available: connect directly to the data source using DirectQuery.

      Hi Hans-

Also note that you’ll need to install a Gateway if using any on-prem DBs.  The gateway comes in two forms (for either personal and enterprise application), and passes a user’s server permissions to the Power BI service.

With the on-premises gateways, you can keep your data fresh by connecting to your on-premises data sources without the need to move the data. Query large datasets and benefit from your existing investments. The gateways provide the flexibility you need to meet individual needs, and the needs of your organization.
