We have a few vendors which we always pay the inbound freight costs for our purchases.  Is there any check box on the vendor card to automatically add the “landed cost” check box on every purchase order?  Right now, the purchasing agent must remember to do it on every purchase order for that vendor.  Thank you for your help.

      Hi Bob,

The only default for landed costs comes from setup on a item.  If you go to the item and then the goto button, select the quantities/sites window.  There you can select the item and enter the vendor and your Landed cost group.

When you create a purchase order with that item and site, then the line will automatically add the landed cost group.

      Hope that helps!
      Mike

      Hi Bob,
Depending on how much inbound freight you control, it may make sense to look into a GP add-on called Dynamics TMS. It automatically manages inbound freight as well as outbound freight and keeps accurate costs of those landed costs for you.
      Regards,
      Ari

I am back on this issue of landed cost.  We are still trying to nail down the correct setup and process for landed cost to hit the item on receipts and clearing the receipt through AP.  We have established certain vendors as those who will prepay freight and add to the invoice and many others who will ship UPS Collect on our account so the Landed Cost Group ID will have our UPS vendor number as the vendor to match to the invoice.  So I followed the setup instructions and made the changes through the Item Quantities Maintenance screen for one item.  I entered an order for this item and landed cost was not automatically checked on the purchase order.  We use SalesPad for our purchasing module.  I even tried to enter a purchase order through GP and I rechecked the PO on Sales Pad and Landed Cost Group didn’t display as a requirement when a receipt is processed.  What am I missing?

      Bob,

Landed Costs will only show up on the Receipt Transaction Entry Line if it was already on the Purchase Order Line for the Item and Site. It can be added the PO Line automatically by setups or manually if blank.

If it is not on the  PO Line it will not automatically show on the Receipt Line.

However, a Landed Cost Group ID can be added to the Receipt Line manually before posting if blank.

So  I would look at your PO Lines and make sure they reflect the correct Landed Cost Group ID before Receiving if your Receiving Transactions are blank.
