?We frequently enter trade discounts on sales orders and the preferred method is to place them as a percentage rather than a fixed amount.

Is there a way to force entry as a percentage only on Trade Discounts?

The sales entry trade discount expansion window has the percentage field. What you could do is to use Field Level Security to lock the entry field on the main window, require the user to use the expansion arrow to get to the detail window and then in that window you can also lock the amount field so that your trade entry users can only enter the value as a percentage.
