      Hello
      We are just starting to use SmarList builder to publish excel reports. The SQL server name is incorrect.Ā  It needs to be corrected each time a file is refreshed.Ā  Where is that server name stored?

      Thank you

      Hi Mary,
      Do you have access to your SQL Server?Ā  If so, can you run the select statement below?

      select @@SERVERNAME

      Is that the correct server Name?

      Actually that does not return the correct server name. That returns the name that is excel is using.

      OK, at least it is consistent.

      — here is a script that can change to the right server name.Ā  I would suggest that you have to work with your IT or DBA on this.

      — verify name incorrect
      SELECT @@servername;
      Ā
      — Remove the old name from the SQL server
      sp_dropserver ‘<name from @@servername>’;
      go
      Ā
      — Add the new name, with local set as well.
      sp_addserver ‘<new server name>’,LOCAL;
      GO
      Ā
      — verify change taken
      SELECT @@servername;

      Hi Mary, were you able to resolve this issue? Depending on the source issue, you may need to redeploy the report and the connection strings pointing to the correct server.

      Not yet.Ā  Passed on the info regarding needing to change the name of the SQL server to our hardware/server support vendor.Ā  They are afraid to make the changed.Ā  Feel they need to do “more research” on what the effect will be.
