Is anyone familiar with SQL Errors that occur sporatically? These errors cannot be traced on the SQL Log and are starting to occur rather frequently.
Today, after posting a batch, I received the following error: When choosing More Info Tab: I entered another Batch and tried to print the Edit List and GP locked up.
Can anyone advise on the cause of errors and steps to fix it?
My guess is that you may have a couple of instances of GP installed on that terminal server or computer.
The first error is indicating that there is something not right about the ODBC setup you are accessing through GP.Ā
Many people don’t know this, but one install of GP can access many different ODBC connections.Ā Ā When you first log in to GP there is usually a drop-down box that says something like “Dynamics GP 2016”.Ā This is the name of the ODBC connection.
You may be accessing an incorrect database version as opposed to the GP version you are on, etc.
The first thing we need to do is make sure you are using the correct ODBC connection.Ā You may want to check with IT about that.
If you don’t have an IT department, I am including aĀ link to an article to help resolve the first issue.Ā Once the first issue is resolved it may help with the remainder of those error messages.

Hi Kinsley, By any chances do you use any 3rd-party software that does close GP user’s sessions after a given time-out of inactivity ? Like Rockton Toolbox or Willoware ? Which build of GP are you using ?

Hi Kinsley,
From your PM I understand that you don’t think there are any 3rd-party product that would time-out a user session ? Do you use FastPath for the GP login by any chances ? many company do in order to avoid the additional login process for the GP client, but FastPAth does too have a session timeout .. which many are not aware of.
