?I have a SmartlistBuilder smartlist that should select certain sales orders and then open the Sales Order when selected.

The Smartlist is primarily being used for user in a Customer Service role.

Of the five Customer Service users, three can open the results of the smartlist orders and see the open order transaction and line items. The other two can see the list of orders in Smartlist but when selected it opens an empty order transaction.

All five users appear to be setup identically, same role, same tasks etc.

      What am I missing?

      ?Hello Jeff,
Is there a chance that one of the ones they are attempting to open just happens to be opened by someone else and maybe it is not allowing them to see the information.
Just curious if this is all it is, or if something else security wise is preventing this.
      Steve

Once they open the empty order transaction window, are they able to search an open an existing transaction from there. Ā If not, it sounds like user security.

As I mentioned when I created the thread, the users that can and can not open the smartest have identical security (from everything i have been able to find). Two users sitting next to each other, one it works the other it doesn’t.

I agree it’s probably security but I’m out of ideas where else to look.

Have any user-specific restrictions been set up in the Smartlist itself?

Also, are they all working in the same company?

?What do you mean by user-restrictions to the Smartlist?.

There are 5 users that are in the CS-01 role, the CS-01 role has a number of tasks. Under user security each of the 5 users are assigned the same role/tasks.

3 of the 5 users have no problem with the Smartlist in question while the others do have an issue.

      ?Hi!

With SmartList Builder you usually need to grant the user access to the SmartList Objects as well.Ā  For the user(s) not able to use the SmartList, have you checked that they have the SmartList Objects rights?

      1. If you have not already done so, open SmartList – you will see a message saying SmartList Builder has detected changes. Click Yes.
      2. Open the Security Task Setup window.
        Dynamics GPĀ  > Ā ToolsĀ  > Ā SetupĀ  > Ā SystemĀ  >Ā  Security Tasks
      3. Open an existing task or create a new task.
      4. In the Product list, choose SmartList.
      5. In the Type list, choose SmartList Object.
      6. In the Series list, choose SmartList Objects.
      7. After the SmartList objects appear in the Access List pane, click to select the check boxes of the SmartList objects to which you want to grant access.
      8. Click Save.
      9. If you opened an existing task in Step 3, you can skip the rest of the steps below. Ā If you created a new task in Step 3, proceed to step 10.
      10. Open the Security Role Setup window.
        Dynamics GPĀ  >Ā Ā ToolsĀ  > Ā SetupĀ  > Ā SystemĀ  > Ā Security Roles
      11. Open an existing role or create a new role.
      12. Ā Find the task you create is Step 3 and select the check box next to it.
      13. Click Save.
      14. If you opened an existing role in Step 11, you can skip the rest of the steps below.Ā  If you created a new role in Step 11, proceed to step 15.
      15. Open the User Security Setup window.
        Dynamics GP >Ā Ā ToolsĀ  >Ā  SetupĀ  >Ā  SystemĀ  > Ā User Security
      16. Select the user and company.
      17. Find the role you created in Step 11 and select the check box next to it.
      18. Click Save.

If this is already done then you may need to take a closer look at their securities in SQL

      Hi Jeff –Ā

Out of my own curiosity, was the Smartlist built with Smartlist Builder done with a SQL view? Ā  Or was it a “normal” (if there is such a thing) smartlist build linking the tables together?

In SQL server, did you grant execute permissions to individuals or to the DYNGRP?

All users are assigned to DYNGRP

      Hi Jeff –Ā

I understand all users are assigned to the DYNGRP role, but since this Smartlist was built using a SQL View and you have to explicitly assign permissions to the view in SQL, did you assign permissions to the DYNGRP or to individuals? Ā  If permissions were assigned to individuals, then it would explain the problem, but if it was assigned to the DYNGRP then we’ll need to continue looking. Ā  I’m just looking to verify how permissions to the view were assigned.

All users are assigned to dyngrp and dyngrp is assigned to the views and tables. Ā No users have explicit permissions to SQL views and tables.

Just to verify for the thread, the users are able to see the data in SmartList, but it is the GoTo that isn’t working when you are opening the GP windows from SmartList and it should be pulling in data?

If this is the case, what did you pick for the Key fields when you added your view?Ā  You can view them by double clicking on the view in SmartList Builder.Ā  Also, what is the setup for the GoTo’s?

      Thanks!

      The key field is sopnumbeĀ

As I have mentioned a couple of times it works for some and not others so I wouldn’t think the key is a factor.

All SQL permissions appear to be the same and all GP security (Roles and tasks) for the users in question are identical.

The Key Fields are only used for the GoTo’s in SmartList Builder.Ā  From what we have seen, sometimes a GoTo may work with the Keys not quite right and sometimes it won’t.Ā  It can show itself like it is in your environment where it works for some and not for others. Ā

I would guess SOPNUMBE is a good key, but you may need another.Ā  I am not sure what is needed as I don’t know the exact window you are opening in your GoTo.Ā  Basically whatever fields you are passing in the GoTo should be in your keys if you are using the Open Form Goto. Ā

If that doesn’t resolve it, it might be something to have the eOne support team look at to see what is going on.Ā  If you would like, you can contact them atĀ http://www.eonesolutions.com/support-center/.

      Thanks!

All I’m trying to open from the smartlist is the transaction windows associated with the sopnumber.

The reason for SB is because the view I need is custom and needed to access to display a filtered list of orders to view.

From that SB result list is where the users would launch the goto in order to open the associated transaction form with header and line items.

The goto in fact opens the transaction window as expected the problem is that some users see the complete order with header and line items, while other users simply see the transaction window but with only the order number showing, all ather details are missing.
