I entered a general journal entry, but instead of the usual Standard transaction type, I made a Reversing entry.  This was for an accrual at the end of the year, with the reversal occurring on 1/1/17.

When looking in the GL or doing an inquiry on the account, I can see the entry and reversal.  But when doing an inquiry on the journal entry number, it only shows one side of the entry, not the reversal.

Shouldn’t both sides of the entry be visible on a journal entry inquiry?

      Hi Mike,

Since the reversing JE is in two different fiscal years you will only see one side of the entry in each year.  Try changing the year in the dropdown box, and you should see the other side.

Thanks for the info on that Frank.  I had hoped to see the whole transaction all at once, but that makes sense when it falls withing 2 separate years.

One way that you can see both sides at once is with Smart List. Since it is the same JE # it will pull both sides at once even though it crosses years.
