I have been asked to grant access to the Internet Information window so that our Accounts Payable staff can add email addresses for our vendors. I do not want to grant access to the other items available through this window such as Employees.Ā  is there a way to restrict what a user can access in this window?

      Hi

If your usual security is in place, i.e. Payables folks can’t see Payroll Info then they should not even see the Employee option in the drop-down.

HOWEVER, if they can (and I don’t have time to test that right now), you can train the users to access the internet information window from whichever master record (Customer Address Card, Vendor Address Card) ?that they are working on and then use Field Level Security and lock that drop down box.

GP Power Tools – Developer Tools module can be used to add business logic to any window. This can be used to provide security for windows/fields for specific situations.

      Regards

      David?

Thank you for the great suggestions.Ā  I chose a different option that might work for you.Ā  I modified the Internet Information window so that the “Select Information for” drop-down list is not editable.Ā  If you access that window from one of the Cards (Employee, Vendor, Customer), it defaults the correct option in that drop-down list.Ā  This option works well for us as our users access that window directly from the related Card.Ā  This gives the users access to add the internet information (such as email addresses) but only for the Cards their security allows.

Another option would be to simply drag that field & it’s label off of the window.
