      Hi everyone,

We need to add new databases in GP and are trying to find the easiest way to copy over our vendors and GL account numbers.  We do not want any other data etc.  Is there a feature in PSTL that will do this?  I seen the option of company copy but not sure if this will do what we need.  Please advise?

      Hi Michelle,
Yes the PSTL Company Copy function is the way to go..
Depending on what your selection will be, the setup data and basic data will be copied over to the destination company. Be aware that the company does have to exist already, so if it’s not the case, use the GP Utilities to create a new company first.
Some of the warnings from the PSTL User guide :

This tool requires that the user be logged in as “sa.”

Before using the Company Copy tool, be aware of the following important issues:

      •  You should use this tool only after creating a SQL database backup of the
destination company. The copy operation is irreversible without a backup.

      •  When the copy process is run, the setup tables and report options tables in the
modules you selected will be deleted for the destination company. If you have
manually added setup or report option information for a module in the
destination company, and you do not want this information deleted, do not use
the Company Copy tool to copy data for that module.

      •  You should be the only user who is logged into Microsoft Dynamics GP when
      the operation is performed.

      •  The operation can take a significant amount of time to complete, so you should
consider performing it during off-peak hours.

Please read on the PSTL User guide that comes along the PSTL package (Chapter 8). The document also contains a list of all the tables that will be copied over, depending on your selections.
      Good luck.
