      #HRandPayroll #YearEnd

It looks like I made a boneheaded mistake by not refreshing my memory on the Payroll Year-End Close procedures before I applied the 2021 Tax Update.Ā Ā

KB -Year-end closing procedures for Microsoft Dynamics GP Payroll

As you can probably already guess, I neglected to create the Year-End file before applying the 2021 Tax Update.Ā

Is there anything I should be on the lookout for as we tackle the task of generating W-2s as a result of this oversight?Ā  Is there a workaround without restoring to a backup prior to the install of the Tax Update, which would result in a ton of re-work?Ā  Or, are there published instructions/procedures for situations like this?

I seem to remember something about resetting the system date to a date in the prior year can help on some issue like this, but am not sure it pertains to this situation.

We generate about 30-40 W-2s in our organization.

      Hi Ashton,

You can roll back the tax tables.Ā  If you use the below link and log into Customer Source, you should be able to download and apply the 2020 tax tables from the CAB file.Ā  It requires the use of SQL so if you are not familiar I’d suggest working with your IT or partner for assistance.

      John,

Thanks for your suggestion.Ā  I’ve reached out to our GP partner to help walk us through the steps we need to take, as making edits in SQL isn’t something I think we’re comfortable with quite yet in our Finance Department.Ā  It’s comforting to hear that there is an ability to “roll back” the tax tables in order to get the Year-End Wage File & W-2s printed.
