We have a few people that process hourly payroll, that we don’t want to have access to Salary payroll.  Allowing those processing Salary payroll all access.

Is there a way to restrict access by Classes?

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Hi Pamela, this is a great question around payroll.
Unfortunately, classes will not do this for you as you wish.

If you have Human Resources installed, there is an option to do this called Filters.

Under Tools | Setup | System | HR Preferences, bottom left of this window.

in the day, filters were designed for HR windows to limit users to see employee data, but we have added this to the employee maintenance window and also the pay code window.

But if this user has access to run a SUTA report or a 941 these filtered employees would be visible on the report, as if they were not, it would affect taxes paid and such, reports would be incorrect.

If you want something more than what Filters gives you there are ISV solutions (3rd party products) that do this too.

One example I know is KTL solutions would restrict this down, there could be more too if you do some looking.

      Terry,

Thanks for the Update.  I think this will work for what we need to limit.  I’ll give it a try, and if it doesn’t work for us, I’ll look into 3rd party options.

      Thanks,

      Pam
