[Kyle Malone, CPA]

I can’t find info on this anywhere.  On GP2018, the Inquiry – Document is unusable because it’s so slow, especially in companies with a ton of volume.

Is it resolved in 2018R2 or does anyone know if/when it’ll be resolved w/ future releases?

This is a design problem with the window and I don’t believe it has been fixed in GP2018 R2.  You can read more about this issue here and get the free GP add-in that fixes the issue create by Steve Endow.

The problem is that window access the table only with the document number, but not the document type, and both fields are key fields

My gut feeling is that if you add a non-unique key to the SQL table in SQL for only the document number it would speed this up, but have not been brave enough to try this.

If it works, you may have to re-do this change after the next upgrade, if it rebuilds the table.

Everyone, do you think this is safe to do?

Hi-
We recently looked into this for a customer with a very large database.  They reported that using the window locked the client machine, and severely degraded performance for other users in the system.  We tracked down the source of the problem to a poorly written SQL stored procedure used by the window to populate a temp table.  The client reported that the change we made to the stored procedure resolved the issue.  You can read about the fix here:
