Two questions:
Is there a way email more than one link to a report in MR. As soon as two reports are highlighted, the email link option greys itself out. Currently I send two emails, each with a different report link, such as balance sheet and then income statement. When creating a department detail report, can there be an imbedded summary report that rolls up all other departments, but only shows the corporate summary data, no account or transaction level detail, but then also allows for viewing department level detail with account and transaction level detail.
I was thinking that it might be possible using the reporting tree unit security column for viewing privileges, but would need to somehow use the Detail Level section in the report builder section, and insert into the reporting tree, to assign account and transaction level detail to the departments, but only assign Financial level detail on the summary rollup.——————————

Michael,The best way to accomplish this is to create a “report group”. On the top left where the new button is, in that drop down there should be one for report group. Select it, and create the group by selecting the reports and giving the group a name, and then saving it. Generate the group by opening it and clicking the generate button, make sure you have it generate to your web browser rather then the viewer tool. Copy the link to that page that comes up after you generate the group and paste it into the email, and your users will be able to open that link up and see links to all of the reports generated in that group. You can also use the scheduler tab in MR to schedule a group to run on a regular basis if you have recurring needs with the group. In addition, you can publish the links to a Sharepoint site or to a network location so your users can just go there and open up the link.Rob Klaproth

To answer your other question Michael,In the unit security section of the tree, you can leave “summary” blank and let all users see it, but then secure each individual department, I.e. IT director’s user name in the IT section, etc. However, as a disclaimer, I’ve never done it this way, typically most companies only want the user to see their department and not a summary of all, usually I give finance & accounting access to summary and everyone else gets access to their individual departments. So, just try it and see if it works and let us know. šKeep In mind unit security is EXCLUSIONARY, once you put someone’s name in there, only that one person can see the numbers, so make sure you first add accounting and finance to all the units and then go in and add the individual users who should be able to see their unit. Unit security in MR supersedes ALL other security, so even admin users will not see the numbers unless you add their user name to that unit. This was designed so accounting could exclude IT from being able to see the numbers but still allow them to be an admin in the application(on the other hand, an IT user with admin access in MR could still go in and add themselves to the unit but at least there would be an audit trail in the system that they edited the tree).Hope this helps!Rob Klaproth

If I leave the summary section blank, with no security, then if the detail level on the Report Builder tab, is set to account and transaction, couldn’t the IT manager then drill down through the summary report, and see each individual account and transactions of other departments, given that they are drilling thru from the summary section.——————————

I’m not sure Michael, it’s something you would have to test. I would think if they drill down into the report, it would then look at the tree to see what units they are allowed to access, but I’ve never done it that way, so it would be best for you to just test it on your account and see how it works.——Original Message——
