MR – Legacy Provider – Attribute Filter on Row Modifier
Posted by Samantha Higdon on April 5, 2018 at 11:30 am-
?Hello All!
I’m hoping this is a case of not seeing the forest for the trees here.Ā I am building a report in Management Reporter where a specific row should only be pulling transactions for two specific accounts where the originating master ID is one of a set list (4 vendors).
I have applied the row modifier using the attribute filter for Originating Master ID.Ā When I generate the report, the summary/total balance for the row in question shows the overall account balance rather than the summation of the specifically restriced transactions (i.e. those that belong to the four specified vendors).
I have included a screenshot of the detail transactions vs. the the total line.
The system is using the legacy provider not the datamart, and they are on CU 13.
Help?
Thanks,
Samantha

,Are those detail transactions subject to the same Row Modifier?
I might get a better handle on this if you could:
1) post a screen shot of the M-R Row Modifier window and what rows in your report design it affects
2) give us more of an example of what you’re driving atMy first thought was to wonder whether you need to go into the Formula column and pick a Tree node… but that doesn’t jibe with what you’re asking.
How about a little more detail?
Regards,

?Good Morning,
My apologies for the delay.Ā I was having some issues with my profile last week.
Below are some screenshots to help provide some context.
1.) Row Modifier
2.) Row Modifier Detail example
3.) Summarized (Financial Layer in MR) result of Vendor Payable
What I am trying to achieve is a subset of Vendor Payable.Ā The entire vendor payable account has a balance of 4,714,407.39.Ā I am trying to display only $20k of that – those transactions that have been tagged with the originating master record ID of 811507.When I drill into the account and transaction layers, I achieve that information – only those transactions appear.Ā However, the financial layer is showing the value of the entire account as opposed to the summation of only those transactions that make it through the account modifier requirements.
I believe I mentioned it before, but they are on CU 13, and they are using the Legacy provider not the DataMart.
Thanks,
Samantha

?Hi
From your screenshot it looks like you have the filter in place, but have not chosen the modifiers.?
In the above shot, use whichever balance you are looking for.
In the below shot, choose Actual
Please let me know if this works.Management Reporter is not one of my preferred software, LOL

,By definition, the Attribute filters only show up in the Transaction level. I’ve made test reports that include columns for every Attribute available. One only sees them in MR output when one has drilled down to the Transaction level.
Since MR creates hierarchical reports, it makes sense that the most general, highest level results would show up in the Financial “layer”. I can’t picture what you would see if you actually could get that subset of Vendor Payable to show up on the top level… since, in this hypothetical situation, the Vendor Payable amount is already filtered at the Financial level, what values would you see at the Account and Transaction levels?
Legacy vs. Datamart isn’t the issue here. Personally, I’m most comfortable with Legacy, and others here have pointed out some of the issues the Datamart presents.
I think you’d be further ahead creating a SQL View to get those filtered values and opening up the View in an Excel workbook. As far as I know, MR isn’t built for this type of manipulation. I welcome input from real MR experts like the fellows at the MSX Group, or or .
Sincerely,???
