      Hello
Yesterday we received a message during the printing of P/R checksĀ  stating that Duplicate check numbers will be created if the current starting check number is used.Ā  We checked the check history file, no check number existed as high as we were using.Ā  We were told that it is because that there is an A/P check number with that number.Ā  Even though we have different check books for A/P and P/R. Does that make sense?

      Thoughts?

      Hi

No, that does not make sense.Ā  The checkbook master looks at the history of check numbers ONLY in the checkbook you are using, so it has nothing to do with the ‘other checkbook for payroll’.

However, that does not mean that the check number in question does not exist somewhere in the GP system for that checkbook.Ā  It may be that you cannot see it in the User Interface, but there may be a record in SQL.

Someone may need to review the CM tables to find the record of that check.?

      Mary,

We have had a similar issue, but it usually happens when we have more than one person doing payroll checks, and one person has got to the printing number, but doesn’t finish, and someone else gets to the check printing portion of processing payroll.Ā  We typically will actually go into the checkbook setup, to adjust the next check number on that payroll checking account.Ā Ā

      Hope that helps.
      Pam
