Wondering how those of you with MEM are handling multiple checkbooks. Ā Ideally I would like to have one checkbook setup for all the companies where the cash receipts and AP checks would hit. Ā However is it possible to keep separate checkbooks for all my companies and still just do one check run? Ā I see Mekorma has a MEM connector but I haven’t had a demo of this yet. Ā Just looking for some thoughts and ideas. Ā Thank you!

?Yes it is possible for separate checkbooks secured, and able to run all of the batches at one time with MEM and Mekormas MultiBatch tools..Ā Ā  If you haven’t seen a demo ask for Neil at Binary and he will walk you thru..Ā  There products are amazing!Ā  I am happy to answer any questions you have on how this works and how easy it is to setup and do.

      Kirsten,

You can build payment batches in MEM one of two ways : Centralized or Decentralized.

With Centralized, you use the same checkbook for multiple entities. With Decentralized, each entity has its own checkbook. There is a setting on the MEM alternate Select Checks window where you make that selection. When running Decentraized, MEM allows you to select multiple entities. A payment batch is built for each entity from its assigned checkbook.

The Mekorma MEM connector works with both Centralized and Decentralized. But, it works differently for each. In Centralized, the connector groups and sub-totals the vouchers on the Remittance stub by entity. In Decentralized, the connector prints the Entity name on the check and stub.

If you use Decentralized, you will end up with multiple payment batches: one per entity, two if you are doing both checks and EFT. Now, that your payment batches are built, that’s where Mekorma Multi-Batch Management comes in.

Multi-Batch Management allows you to select all those payment batches and print / process them in a single operation. This can include emailing EFT Remittances, if you want. You can then post those payment batches, again, in a single operation.

The EFT files for your bank can be created at the same time you print checks and process EFT payments or can be done in their own step later. As above, you can generate the EFT files for all the EFT batches at once.

If you are using Safe Pay, those files can also be generated in a single operation for all the payment batches.

I hope this helps understanding how these tools work together.

Thank you Craig for your response. Ā I would prefer to do Centralized for AP and AR however not sure if our vendors would get confused with the name on the check. Ā Something to look into though.
