      Hello,
Is there any way to use the smart list import to do a mass update on vendors?  We’d like to inactivate a lot and for those we keep active add payment terms.  We’d rather not touch the sql if possible & we really don’t want to do them one by one.

      Thanks,
      Courtney

?SmartList is only a reporting tool. What you’d want to do is export the data to Excel and then enter the updated information in the appropriate columns. You would then use Integration Manager to update the vendor data.

      ?Courtney~

This can be accomplished with a SmartConnect integration.  If you don’t own SmartConnect, a Macro could be utilized to update the data as well.

      Good Luck!

?If you can use your smartlist to export the following, you can turn that into an integration source document to do just exactly what you describe:

      Vendor ID (required)
      Vendor Name (required)
Status (you’ll have to convert these to Active=1, Inactive = 2)
Payment Terms ID (not the decription)

If you aren’t familiar with integrations and would like further assistance, I’d be happy to help.

Smart list is a reporting tool, but I definitely believe that it can “indirectly” be the source for data correction.

      Here is the proposed solution,

      – You can create refreshable excel sheets which are connected to Dynamics GP, vendors smart lists ( for instance ) in order to retrieve data on the fly

      – On the excel file itself, you can create Excel-based macro file in order to read the same excel data, and create a macro code accordingly.

      – The macro file can be generated from the excel file, and run on Dynamics GP in order to correct/ update the same data source ( vendor list ) for instance.

We have followed the same approach with one of our clients which were aiming to correct their customer base. Refreshable excel with Excel-based macro generators worked perfectly for them

Please never hesitate to share any further inquiries or concerns
