Recently our Management Reporter has gotten buggy.  We will run a report to make an entry from then rerun the report to make sure everything balances and the report does not change.  You then run the report a second time (technically third time) and the correct number gets pulled.  We have rebuilt the database did not change anything our server has more the adequate RAM.  I have tried getting out ot MR and getting back in before rerunning the report and that still does nothing it takes twice running it to get the right answer. How can I trust my reports if they are not updating correctly.

      Anyone have experience with this?

      Thank you in advance.

      Valerie,

If you are using the DataMart it could be dependent on how often the DataMart is set to update the database. How much time do you give before running a report after posting an entry?

I have experienced this same issue especially when there are multiple databases for the company.
MR seems to be doing a sequential update based on a specific timing function.
The data is inserted into GP then MR uses SQL Change Tracking  to update the MR data mart.
When you refresh from scratch it should take a while but it should provide the most recent data.
It is just a matter of waiting long enough.
I would recommend that you look at the log in the MR Console to see what last activities have occurred.
But.. no matter what you are probably waiting.

We maxed out the application with the most amount of RAM possible for one of my customers and it STILL is slow and lags.
      We just wait.
I know that is not the answer that you want but it is my experience.

I saw that one of the other replies discusses the change tracking timing.  I accessed SQL then a database then reviewed the functions in Change Tracking but did not see any way to change the timing.
You may want to get with a SQL DBA to determine if there is a way to increase performance in this area.
There are several articles on MSDN and from SQL bloggers that educate and expand on the use and performance of Change Tracking.

      Here is just one:
Enable and Disable Change Tracking (SQL Server)

      Valerie,
First I would say check your MR version.  There is a CU (10 I think) that was supposed to help with DataMart performance issues.  Second, check out this blog re: refresh rates:  The dreadful 1-minute refresh cycle of MR2012 DataMart

The Dynamics GP Geek blog remove preview
The dreadful 1-minute refresh cycle of MR2012 DataMart
When Microsoft introduced the DataMart connector in Management Reporter 2012 (aka MR2012) back in 2012 with the RU3 release, they probably didn’t put much tought into the fact that some users are running multiple GP companies up to several dozen databases on the same SQL instance…
View this on The Dynamics GP Geek blog >

We have a customer with multiple companies and a really large chart in their main company.  They were having issues like you describe and we changed the refresh rate.  It cleared up the majority of their problems.
      Thanks
      Windi

I would agree and reiterate about being on the most recent MR 2012 CU15 with Hot Fixes then rebuild the data mart (assuming using the data mart instead of the legacy provider).  Attached is a summary of the releases, bug fixes and new features.

Feel free to email if any follow up questions.

      Hi Valerie,

Remember that you have options.  We have been moving our customers to Jet Express.  We have found it to be a more reliable solution for financial statement reporting.

Jet Express is a free download.  You can learn more about it here.
