We are looking at purchasing some limited access user licenses in order to free up the Full-access ability for some of our users.Ā  I understand that the Limited Users will have access to whatever we grant them access to, they just won’t be able to “do” transactions.

Several of our users already use GP to just view the documents and other information in the system so it makes no sense to keep them as Full-Access users.

The main question I’m getting is if they are Limited-Access users, will they still be able to “write a note on a note window”.

We use the note windows to update information about an order ( purchase order, inventory trx etc).Ā  Even our Limited Users will at times need to leave information regarding a conversation with a customer about their order.Ā  (Some of us refer to these note windows as “CYA” windows).

I look forward to your responses.

      Thank you,
      Pam

Testing this briefly, using a limited user with all the ‘limited users’ security roles assigned, with Sales for example, the user can drill down on a sales document to the Receivables Transaction Inquiry Zoom window, their the user can add a note to the sales document number and save it.

The same is true of a PO in the PO Inquiry Zoom window, the user can add a note to the PO Number and save it fine.

The user was also able to click on the ‘Add Note’ windows as well on the different windows and enter notes there.

The only thing that a limited user doesn’t appear able to do, is add attachments to SOP or PO documents. In my testing, it seems they can preview the attachments already there, but not add new ones.

      Thanks
