Is it possible in GP to have two identical Invoice IDs but with a different vendor?

If so, are there any special rules when importing into GP, for example from an eConnect Web Service or Smart Connect?

      Thanks

As I understand it as long as the Vendor Numbers are different you can use the same invoice number in AP.

You can have duplicate invoices number whether they’re for the same vendor or not.  Check your Payables Management Setup window option: Allow Duplicate Invoices Per Vendor.  Options are Yes, No, or Recurring Transactions Only.

Yes.  The system has a key based on the combination of Customer/Vendor and order #.  Where you run into trouble is if the Customer/Vendor decides to wrap and start re-using order #’s. We had that happen a couple of months ago and we had to check with the customer about why they re-used a number because we couldn’t pull it in.

I have one vendor whose invoice number is 20-xxxxx-99 where the xxxxx is a sequential number that restarts.  The 99 is a two digit number that is limited to their distribution centers with most invoices coming out of 11, 12, or 21 distribution centers.

I have had invoices numbers dupe in a 12 month period.  For EDI purposes we strip the dashes and add the Julian Date, so our imports do not fail.  This is a big company with high volumes of sales.

I wish programmers would use a key of the vendor id + invoice number + invoice date.  That would be a really helpful key.
