We need some serious help and a way to reconcile our inventory to GL.  We’re on GP2010 and last year some site merges were run through GP that messed up our IV10200 and 10201 tales.  This was not discovered until the next month when commissions were off.  Commissions were corrected through SQL, however the stock status/GL/On Hand have all been off ever since. We ran the reconcile and it inserted receipt layers that shouldn’t have existed on the merged sites which threw everything off even further. Unfortunately we do not have HITB installed and from what I understand we can’t install it until we have a point in time where inventory and GL reconcile, which would have been YE 2015.  Is there a way to set it to a point in time for the HITB reconcile? Can I “trick” it by backdating the system date? Does anyone have any other ideas for me?  This all happened before my time so I’m trying to clean everything up and it’s a mess 🙁

Jennifer,  I inherited a similar mess with my current company; the short answer is that I bit the bullet and installed HITB and did a HITB reset.  I wiped my inventory layers, reimported all my inventory with the proper cost and started over.  Of course I did this at month end when I had a complete inventory count.  Accounting was costing on spreadsheets so they were okay with it.

This was not easy, I spent 240 hours mostly in prep and testing but it was the only way I could get inventory back on track (and be in a place where I could upgrade to gp2016).  Now a year and a half later I find out that accounting has not been using the IV/GL reconciliation tool and want to know why inventory doesn’t reconcile…  I told them if they make me do the reset again I would quit.
