Hi All,We are looking at eliminating some of the human errors when it comes to Inventory. Right now, we have the service guys physically counting and writing down inventory transfers, but are looking at different options because they might forget to write things down when taking inventory out to jobs. We use the inventory module in GP and it works fine but we are looking at adding bar codes on the items so we can scan them. Can we set it up to scan directly into GP? Or would our best option be a 3rd party that can work with GP?

Nick,Depending on your budget, I would look at scanning directly into Dynamics GP.Ā There are a couple of options such as Panatrack and Accellos come to mind and can be configured to exactly the type of transaction you need to capture such as inventory transfers, inventory physical count, shipment or receipts.
It could involve setting up access points so the hardware is typically a bulk of the cost.——————————

?We purchased Panatracker last year and it has been very useful.Ā It takes away theĀ step of having to enter the transaction into GP.Ā You only have to review and post.Ā It also removes any guess work as to what sku they actually picked, no transposing numbers.Ā Barcodes do not mix up numbers.

we are in the process of implementing Panatrack for this exact reason and more. We were always writing things down, mis-identifying parts, forgetting things and so on. It definitely takes a lot of error out of the process and I love that you can have real-time tracking. ?——————————

Nick,
We have Accellos and it works great.Ā I’ve heard Panatracker is great also, as many others have posted.
My main comment would be to make sure to get everyone on board with the change/upgrade, and to make sure everyone who uses the new electronic tracking system understands exactly how to use it.Ā It’s a big operational change from using paper.Ā Even one person who doesn’t like the change from paper to electronic (or doesn’t understand it) can cause an inventory nightmare.Ā Getting buy-in and setting strong procedures in place immediately will set you up for success no matter which tracking system you decide to go with.

?Hi Nick –We are using Panatrack with GP 2015.Ā Our issues have to do with lack of wifi connectivity and inability to use a live connection.Ā We are currently looking into upgrading to property wide wifi which will enable our ability to use the handheld devices in a live environment.Ā Any comments or concerns regarding this configuration would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Eliminating the manual entry process to inventory tracking does wonders to reduce errors, improve productivity, and eliminate downtime required for year-end physical inventories.ĀIf you ship a lot of parcel or LTL shipments, you might want to look into additional functionality for extra benefits that can be found with an integrated warehouse management software. No doubt, automating inventory tracking is the first step in the right direction.Ā
I am a little biased, but FASCOR has some great features and actually integrates seamlessly into GP, as it’s native code isĀ written in Dexterity. Feel free to contact me directly for more information or just check it out for yourself …Ā Warehouse Management System & Software | FASCORĀ

Nick,
The signage your company delivers looks pretty spectacular and on the off chance that you actually manufacture some or part of it yourselves you might also want to consider that both Accellos and Panatrack support the manufacturing capability in DynamicsGP too.Ā Getting all the elements pulled together to ship an on time and complete manufactured order is an important effort and these products can also add visibility to shop floor tasks.——————————
