Hello Apparently our AP check number was setup with a length of 4.Ā It just rolled over to 0.Ā When we went in to change it to a 6 digit number, we received the msg:
changing the length of the field may cause problems with auto-reconcileĀ
Can we ignore this msg?
Thank you

Hi Mary,
You can change your check to 6 digits, just add two 0’s to the last check number, i.e. if your last #Ā was 9999 and your next number is 10000 just make it 010000 for the next number.Ā That will give you room to go up to 999999.Ā If you think you’ll need more, I’d recommend another 0.
The auto reconcile is the “reconcile to GL” function where you select a checkbook and it shows you discrepancies between the GL cash account and the checkbook balance.Ā I’m not sure what “problems” may occur, but in my opinion, the reconcile to GL is not the bible in GP anyway, and a lot of people don’t use it.
