Implementing a French company
Posted by Chris Donnelly on March 1, 2021 at 5:51 am-
Good morning GPUG,
Looking for any and all advice…
We are preparing to put a company in France into our GP2018 environment.Ā I think I’m prepared for multi-currency, multi-lingual (I installed the French client), multi-company and remote access to the full GP client for the users.Ā Ā
Can anyone point out any landmines I cannot see or share some pain points?
I did a quick search and couldn’t find any French documentation for the users.Ā Has anyone seen any?
Thanks,
Chris——————————

Hi @ChrisĀ Donelly
The only other issue might be taxes (they are much different in Europe than the US at times).?

Hi Chris,These points below are a few of what I could remember as it was long time ago.Ā So, you might want to re-confirm…
1. I would get with a local CPA firm who parles francais so they know the ins/outs. They will be the one who will tell you exactly what they need.
2. If you will be selling to EU countries, you will need to set up EU Intrastat which GP does support
3. Take a look at IFRS to see if you will need to turn on a 2nd reporting ledger which GP will also support. Be very careful with this as I recall once you turn it on, you can’t turn it off (not sure if it’s still the case nowadays)
4. If you have high volumes, might want to look into automate daily rates update. There’s 3rd add-on to take care of this update.HTH,——————————————-

Great stuff.Ā Thank you Jo and Silver!!!

Hi
Just thought I would mention that GP Power Tools has a Company Login Filter feature which will ensure that when a user launches the French application, they will only be able to log into the French companies and when a user launches your US application?, they can only log into the US companies.
Just one of the many features you might find handy for a Multi-national install.
Regards
David

Hello again GPUG’ers,
I’ve come across a couple of unfamiliar things I was hoping someone could help with…
Our French accounting firm informed us that any accounting software needs to be certified.Ā I’m assuming this mean certified by some branch in the French government.Ā The accounting firm is looking into this.Ā I’d also love to get an opinion from someone who dealt this on this side of the pond.
Also, we are required to generate an “FEC” file annually and submit it to the French Government.Ā It looks like a dump of all G/L and subledger transactions for the year.Ā The layout and format didn’t look too difficult.Ā But, I’d prefer to ‘buy it’ instead of ‘build it’ if possible.Ā Ā
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris——————————
