      Thursday Tech tip for everyone!

Had a customer suddenly discover that a big chunk of their budget suddenly was no longer reporting in Mgmt Reporter.
Last month the Total Year Budget was much larger than the Total Year Budget which is now being reported.

Did anyone go into the Budget Maintenance window or Single Account Maintenance window and edit any accounts?
      >>>>No

Were any budget values changed in the 3rd party budget software, and did anyone re-export the budget to GP?
      >>>>No

So did anything else happen in GP recently?
      >>>>>>we just closed the last Fiscal Year, could that have done something?

Well yes, that could be the culprit!

In the Year-End Closing pop-up screen for Financials, there is an option to Maintain Inactive Accounts (With Budget Amounts).
If you park budget amounts in accounts which have no Actual activity, beware!

If you don’t checkmark this option, GP will delete the GL accounts which appear to be inactive (from an Actuals perspective), and you could lose big chunks of your budget when the accounts are deleted.

      YearEndCloseOption_RemoveInactiveAccounts

      and even more fun…
If you re-create the accounts, GP may assign new ACTINDX #s to those accounts.
If you are using Management Reporter with the Datamart, you may need to rebuild the datamart to get the re-imported values to report.

      ?You have been warned!

Thanks for writing this out Zubin!  I’ll add this to the Top 20 Things You Shouldn’t Do In GP for Summit.
