Today I received an email from the workflow process for requisitions.Ā  The problem is it was not from a staff I supervise and it stated:
“You have been assigned a task for the Alternate Final Approval step in the Purchase Requisition Approval workflow”

I am the guy who creates/maintains the workflows and I have verified I am NOT (nor is anyone else) listed in the alternate approver field.Ā  The box which allows an alternate approver is also not checked.Ā  Where can I look in the data tables to see if something is messed up but not displaying in the maintenance window?

Not sure of all the details but ifĀ there is something missing on the User Profile in AD (Manager) then you will get WF action routed to you as the WF Manager.

      Kevin,
Thanks.Ā  Do you have a suggestion of what to look for in AD?Ā  I verified the manager status before starting this thread.Ā  Does GP look at something else?

In Assignment, what do you see in your WF? – Direct Manager? That would be AD. Also confirm the user has his AD account associated with the GP users in User Settings.

Its possible the WF action was started prior to the correct settings in your AD/WF, then you need to reject and have it resubmit it.Ā

We also saw issues if the user is NOT logged into his user account on his PC – Maybe a shared workstation?Ā  For WF to work, the user must be logged into the his/hers AD account.

      Hopefully this helps!

As the Workflow Manager, I believe you may also get this approval request if the option is marked to always require at least one approver but there is no alternate final approver.Ā  I would look at the workflow history for the transaction or record that was submitted to see which step it is that you received the request to and you may find that the rules for the workflow didn’t apply to the record submitted and therefore when to the manager.
