Thanks for putting that presentation together, I found it a very useful comparison of the two products, and I think you addressed the key mis-information points out there quite tactfully – well done :).
A couple questions about BC popped up for me:
- Sales tax data – in GP, we have everything from DIY to mac-daddy on-line 3rd party add-ons – how is the tax data handled in BC? In our business model we sometimes need to charge tax for materials delivered to a remote area that may not have a physical address (i.e. wind/solar farm), so it’s sometimes a challenge to figure out what tax rate applies.?
- Forms – As an admin, I was a little horrified watching you hide form fields as an end user – I was imagining all of the support calls asking where fields went. Is there a balance from the admin side in being able to push out customized forms for all users? Looks like great functionality for power users, but a little onerous to train users who’s forms may look significantly different.
- Reports – what is the mechanism/development environment for editing standard OOB BC reports like invoices or trial balances? Power BI admittedly is super nice, but can be a little pricey. We have quite a few just plain tabular reports where SQL/SSRS is our go-to environment with GP.

I’ll do my best:

- BC has a sales tax configuration much like GP’s – although it WILL look different it’s kind of the same thing. You’d have
- Tax Groups = Tax Schedules (kind of)
- Tax Areas = Tax Schedules – more like GP
- Tax Jurisdictions = Tax Details in GP

- There are also, of course a number of add-ons that already work well with BC, you’re welcome to research more, but Avalara has a good product.
- Their support is, at times a bit slow, but the product is solid

- You CAN control security to it in the security settings.

- You can also (As an Admin) personalize Role Pages FOR your users IF you turn off the ability to add and remove fields

- In BC you can’t modify the built-in layouts….BUT you Can make your own custom layouts
I’ll add my other two cents on this, you will find that the windows look different and feel foreign, but you will soon grow to love it!?
