      Hello,

I know this questions has been asked before, but I was wondering if you could give me your suggestion on the best route to go.

I have been using GP for about 8 years and have a pretty good understanding of it.

Before GP I used Crystal Reports and MS Query.  I have a decent knowledge of the SQL language, but what I dont have is the database component.

If I were wanting to expand my education to more on the IT side to learn about our database and how it interacts with GP and also to perform tasks like clearing tables when an invoice or user is stuck, or writing queries instead of building smartlists, what would be the best route?

Obviously our local College has a certificate program in Database Administration, but would that be over kill or not even relevant?

I know GPUG has academy classes and I think those would be beneficial, but would it be enough?

Should I do both?  Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. #databaseadmin

      Thank you,

      Hi Katie,

Online training courses are always a good start (like the one offered by GPUG, and many of the webinars can even be downloaded from the library).

An excellent learning place is also Victoria Yudin’s blog, where you’ll be able to find tons of excellent SQL scripts to solve most of your daily issues in GP. Check under the Resources menu..

      Good luck.
