      Has anyone come across this issue in GP2018? One user has an issue where randomly all the button icons in GP will change to gear icons (see screenshot) and GP will eventually lock up. The only way to fix is to hard restart GP.

      Any ideas what’s causing this?

    We are getting one user that is experiencing this. Did you ever solve it?

    So this is a kinda of known issue with 2018 / R2.

    The root cause seems to involve the loss of network / SQL activity, including Printer…

    Are you using Citrix / RDP?

    Do you have a system NOT RDP, and if so, does that have the same issue?

    Does this happen on ALL users.

    Start with those questions…

    Hi Kerry,

    I appreciate you sharing your insight. I agree the symptoms appear to be related to connectivity. We did put the user on an RDP a couple weeks ago and he hasn’t experienced any episodes since. Looks like an effective ‘band-aid’.

    Did this get resolved in a later release? Or, is there an MS article out there?

    Answering your other questions…

    I’ve only seen it with one user so far. We have 55 GP licences. No Citrix. A handful of users on a few RDP servers (primarily for remote work). We gave the user a new GP (SQL) login (no help). A prior employee on the same machine never experienced this. Weird.

      One other trick is to re-install GP on the client machine.

      Make sure you remove first… Repair is not always the best.
