Help!Ā  Our FA person left and the CFO has asked me for a projection as we are working on budgets for our next fiscal year.Ā  I ran the projection report and it returned zero data regardless of how I manipulated the variables.Ā  This corporation has plenty of assets in the FA system, so obviously there is another piece to this puzzle.Ā  What am I missing?

      Thank you!

      Hi Brandy.Ā
You need to run the Projection routine each time before you run the Projection Report.Ā  To do this, go to Tools >> Routines >> Fixed Assets >> Projection.Ā  Mark ‘Project All Assets’, select your Target Date for the report, insert your book(s) to Selected Books and click Process.TkVen6fJRJydf0j2Tr2w_Projection.JPGAfter running the Projection routine, you can run your Projection Report in Summary or Detail.Ā  Rerun the Projection routine each time you need to run a new report.

To add to Lou’s response, Projections are one of those things in FA that are specific to a particular user. So, you can’t ask one of your staff to run a projection and then expect to run the projection report yourself, as that data is tied to a specific GP login.

What I actually did at one client is make a smartlist on the Projections Report Master table (FA41900) so that anyone in the dept. could run a projection and others could view the results (export to excel to review or whatever the case may be). They just “search” by userID to get one set of results related to whomever ran the projection, in case 2 users happened to run a similar projection (to avoid duplicate results, as the same asset ID could be “projected” twice, one per user).

      Hope that makes sense.
      Jen
