Has any one used eOne Solutions – Smart Connect, or Extender to transfer and process data in GP Dynamics? If so, could you kindly share your experience.

We use it quite a bit to both import and export data. We export data to various other systems and partners. For importing, it is mainly used to bring orders from other systems into GP. Though we also have it set up to help bring in CC transactions from a few systems and automatically match them to invoices and apply the payments as well. Some of the external systems don’t quite have the data in a format needed, so they go through a process built in house to first get the data ready for import. Then smartconnect does the rest. We use the GP Rolling Column feature to get the next SOP or transaction number during import.
We also have used it to track changed records in GP and then upload that data to CRM systems as well on a schedule.

They are great products. I’ve been using them both for years as both a consultant and an end-user. eOne has been around for many years and have developed a number of solid products for GP.
They can handle basic user challenges (i.e. importing data from spreadsheets) with an intuitive GUI as well as the most advanced application integrations.

Hi Sandra,
As a developer consultant and integration specialist, I use and recommend both the products to every company that needs to do any integrations into Dynamics GP. For most normal business operations it handles your needs. If it doesn’t you should to find a Dynamics GP integrations specialist that knows all the backend and has access to source code.
As for SmartConnect, I have developed many integrations using this for customers. I even have one that does 150k – 200k per day with it. – Even connects to a MSMQ system!
SmartConnect is very rich in features, and can be designed with advanced programming in C# or VBA if you want to make a truly personalized business rules based process. You can even automate the integrations, if you so choose.
You will need to have some training or do a lot of practice, if doing them yourself. You will need to understand eConnect and its concepts. I suggest if you have many integrations, to take the course from eOne or if you need it for just a few specific integrations, then have your partner or an integration specialist develop them for you.
