Hi, all. I’m operating on GP 2013 R2 in an entirely RemoteApp Server environment. I’m trying to figure out a way to set up EFT Remittances in this environment. I believe you have to have Outlook open on the computer where the client is (RemoteApp Server). This isn’t really an option in a RemoteApp environment to the best of my knowledge.

Our accounting team would prefer to set it up to email but based on the above notes, I was thinking of sending the file to a share where the end-users could grab themĀ and email manually to their respective vendors. Is this possible in GP 2013 or is there an alternative to email without having Outlook open?Ā

Thanks for the help, in advance.

We use Office 365 if that matters. It looks like it might not require the Outlook client with 365 but I’m not sure based on the research I’ve done.

The only account profile we allow on the term servers and citrix servers is a donotreply@domain.com account. It is shared by all GP users including the password.
They pick this account when the window opens. Not their own.
This account also has an auto reply that says that this is a do not reply account.

All outbound Exchange email goes out under this account including Receivables Statements, EFT Remittances, and so on. Never under a users account.
The statement and remmittance message notes all have the appropriate group email that the vendor or customer should use for replies. i.e., payables@domain.com, receivables@domain.com etc.

Often the department will have set themselves up as bcc email addresses on each vendor/customer such that they receive back to their department what the vendor and customer receive.?

Thaddeus ‘sĀ  suggestion is certainly the best way to manage e-mailing out of the TS & Citrix environment.
Of course the approach of saving the statements as PDF or Word Template output to a shared network folder is an option too, but since you already have O365 configured, it would make the most sense to mail the statements directly from GP and Bcc: the department e-mail address.
Put the reply e-mail address within the body of the message, so customers / vendors know whom to reply.. ?

      Jon,
If you setup a mail profile in the remote app server for each user profile or whoever sends the remittance form, use the mapi functionality I think it should be able to send the email.

I am not sure, but in gl 2015 and future, you don’t need to open ms outlook to send emails. Just need the email profile.

      Hello Jon,

You can setup SQL email functionality to achieve this task.

      Thanks,

      Vilas Wibhandik

      Hi ,
SQL Mail functionality will be of no help in this case.. GP’s only supports e-mailing thru the Exchange server or by using a MAPI client..

      Hello,

The FTP file will be saved to specific path from GP. The user can schedule a SQL job to send file from specified path. In the SQL job we can add logic like to whom this file will be send to and CC list etc.

      Thanks,

      Vilas Wibhandik

      Hi Villas,
What Jon is referring to is not not sending the EFT file itself.. but the EFT Remittance reports.Ā

Check out the process here : https://www.gpug.com/blogs/jim-bertler/2017/03/27/emailing-eft-remittance-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp

      To simplify:

You do NOT have to have Outlook installed on the remote/Citrix computer and your users should use a shared mailbox/password for the emailing from GP – set during setups and for permissions in emailing.?
