    Dynamics GP On-Prem Automatic Failover SQL Implementation

    We are standing up SQL 2022 servers and want to implement full automatic failover. There are some areas we already know are potential gotchas such as synchronization GP SQL Users logins and passwords, SQL jobs and Management Reporter. Has anyone implemented automatic failover successfully for GP 18 modern lifecycle and have some tips/tricks/guidelines? Are there specific sql components that need to be implemented to synchronize users and passwords to avoid having to reset passwords every time it fails over? Is there a particular method that SQL Jobs need to be stood up to continue to run only on the primary server after failover? What needs to happen to keep Management Reporter healthy after a failover?

    That sounds like a fun challenge.

    I’d start with Alias’ for the SQL Servers. GPPT has some cool features for passwords if necessary, but I have always wanted to try SQL Alias for a scenario like this.
