I’m wondering if anyone out there uses Docuware as a document management system and if (and how) you integrate it with GP for payables.

      Thanks!

?The company I am with uses Docuware for non-GP related document management.Ā  For an integration to GP we would recommend using a product built for that purpose.Ā  I am partial to Papersave.

Before my current position I worked for a document management company and was a DocuWare implementation specialist. It is a very robust product and although I never integrated it with GP, I did integrate it with a number of applications. It is very easy to build connector into any SQL or Oracle database. You would have to know the tables you are integrating with.

We use Docuware and have it linked to GP. Ā This is what we use to connect Docuware to GP –Ā Connect to Microsoft Dynamics GP

      Jhoe remove preview
      Connect to Microsoft Dynamics GP
Connect to Microsoft Dynamics GP enables any company using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (version 10 and above) accounting software to retrieve documents stored in a DocuWare file cabinet. This can be done directly from the Microsoft Dynamics GP environment. The retrieval can be based on document type, status, name, number, or any other field type.

Ā This was recommended to us from the company we purchased Docuware from. Ā It is easy to setup the links to connect various areas of GP to Docuware. Ā You setup the links so you can link to your Docuware documents from anywhere you want in GP. Ā We use Docuware a couple of different ways with GP but mostly use it to store our vendor invoices that we pay out of GP. Ā We are pretty much paperless when it comes to our vendor invoices.

Last year we moved off of Docuware to Laserfiche.Ā

We had been using the Docuware connector mainly with SOP. I have done a little work on integrating both systems with POP.Ā

Beware that Docuware connector does can do a screen scrap type of integration. But our results varied. The best way to integrate is with VB Script.

I would be more than happy to do a web presentation showing how we had implemented Docuware in the past, and how we now use Laserfiche.

?We use Altec’s doc-link as our document management system that integrates with Dynamics GP Payables Management.Ā  It has great workflow capabilities and we have been using it for over 5 years so that our AP invoices can be approved electronically and then uploaded to GP.Ā  It has been very useful since we have many locations across the US and invoices used to get caught up in a bottleneck because AP was waiting on approvals.

The workflows are easy to maintain and modify plus the software allows you to drill back to the image of the invoice right from the GP inquiry windows.Ā  Worth checking into.
